The data reported in the EEO Tables is based on the American Community Survey and is, therefore, subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty for an estimate arising from sampling variability is represented through the use of a "margin of error."  The value shown in the EEO Tables is the 90 percent margin of error. The margin of error is interpreted roughly as providing a 90 percent probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus or plus the margin of error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value.

The margin of error is reported in the summary state-level tables (series "a" tables), as well as in Table 16. Rounding

Census disclosure rules apply the following rounding schematic to the EEO tables:
0 remains 0; 1-7 rounds to 4; 8 or greater rounds to the nearest multiple of 5 (e.g., 864 rounds to 865, 982 rounds to 980); any number that ends in 5 or 0 remains as is. Due to rounding, cells in the EEO datasets are not additive.
