Bayard Rustin spent his life in the struggle for civil rights through non-violence. A long-time advisor to Dr. King, he's probably best-known as the organizer for the 1963 March on Washington. A music major in college, Rustin always understood the particular power of songs, particularly spirituals, for the African-American community.
