Joanne Brackeen: It was the probably the main jazz club there. Paul Bley, the piano player, got a group together….so I went to hear that, and Ornette was there. Paul Bley just hired Ornette, Don Cherry, Billy Higgins and Charlie Haden. So he had a great band, and when I heard that music, I thought this is what I’ve heard all my life, but I never heard it.
