214th National Council on the Arts Public Meeting: Understanding the Value and Impact of
Local Arts Agencies (Virtual)

11:00 am ~ 01:00 pm ET

This council meeting will be held virtually and will focus on local arts agencies—their history, the unique role they play in communities, and the NEA’s efforts to better support their important work as the foundation of our nation’s cultural ecosystems.

In addition to remarks by Chair Jackson, a highlight of this meeting will be a panel discussion about recent research the NEA has undertaken to better understand, document, and connect the local arts agency field. Panelists will discuss early findings from part one of the study, including a literature review, an equity map, and a series of listening sessions with the field.

Panelists:

  • Sally Dix, Executive Director of Bravo Greater Des Moines
  • Tracey Knuckles, Practice Lead, Arts & Culture, Bloomberg Associates
  • Dennis Okyere, Economic Research Analyst at 2M Research
  • Patricia Mullaney-Loss, Social Science Analyst, National Endowment for the Arts
  • Moderator: Randy Engstrom, former Director of Office of Arts and Culture of Seattle and current Executive Director of Third Way Creative
