Grand Center, Inc.
St. Louis, Missouri
The NEA grant will support the design of the Art and Music Promenade Connector, a two-block pedestrian pathway along the eastern edge of the Grand Center District in St. Louis. Project activities include conceptual and schematic designs, and creation of public art elements for a pathway that will provide key pedestrian access to businesses, artist lofts, low-income apartments, Saint Louis University, KHDX Community Radio, and other nearby arts institutions. Grand Center, City of St. Louis, and St. Louis Regional Arts Commission will partner on the connector project, which was identified as the first phase of the recently-adopted District Master Plan. This project will benefit the Grand Center neighborhood, including local cultural institutions, businesses, and residents, as well as the approximately 1.7 million arts patrons who visit the area each year.
