City of Buffalo, New York
Buffalo, New York
The NEA grant will support City On The Edge: Collected Buffalo Stories. The project is a series of participatory multidisciplinary arts programs in historic diverse Buffalo neighborhoods that will culminate in a large-scale piece of public art. In each neighborhood, Friends of Buffalo Story and Young Audiences of Western New York will work with local arts organizations, community participants, and other local artists to uncover communal stories, resulting in a dramatic performance to be presented to the community. The project will culminate in large-scale public art mural to be commissioned by a nationally renowned artist to reflect the essence of the neighborhoods' collected stories. Other project partners include The WASH Project, First Ward, The Anne Frank Project, University at Buffalo Art Galleries, African American Cultural Center, Emerging Leaders of the Arts, Buffalo, Sugar City, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, El Museo Francisco Oller Y Diego Rivera, and Ujima Theatre Company.
