Cultural Development Corporation of Central Oklahoma
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The NEA grant will support a public art master plan to successfully implement and leverage the city's One Percent for Art Ordinance. The ordinance, passed in 2009, requires that one percent of any new construction budget commissioned by the city be allocated to public art. A public art master plan will provide procedural guidance and policy recommendations for reviewing and commissioning public art in Oklahoma City.
The Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs will partner with the Cultural Development Corporation of Central Oklahoma to improve the artist selection process, maximize artistic quality, and engage the broader arts community in planning for public art. An estimated 250 people will be actively engaged in the community cultural planning process. The population of Oklahoma City is 563,000, with an additional population of 94,000 that commute to the city for work.
