Arts Enter Cape Charles
Cape Charles, Virginia
Situated on the Chesapeake Bay side of Virginia's rural Eastern Shore, Cape Charles is a destination for visitors appreciating nature, history, and the arts. While Cape Charles has a population of approximately 1,000 residents, it draws roughly 27,000 visitors annually.
The not-for-profit Arts Enter, in partnership with the Town of Cape Charles, Cape Charles Business Association, and Citizens for Central Park, are committed to engaging the community to work together on an arts plan to establish the town as an arts and cultural destination with support from the Our Town grant. The plan will identify a town-wide network of public spaces to be enlivened by cultural activities and will define strategies to sustain the arts. Planning consultants will bring stakeholders together through community meetings, surveys, and design charrettes to inform the Arts Plan. Project activities will also include a design competition for a street plaza, an art walk, planning for a way-finding system, and arts programming throughout the town as part of the Harbor for the Arts Festival.
