In just eight days, we turn 50! To celebrate we're unveiling the new 50th anniversary section on arts.gov, where we spotlight your stories of how the arts have shaped, changed, and improved your lives. What you'll notice as you browse the stories is that there's no one type of American who has an arts story to tell. You'll hear from artists, of course, and other people who work in the arts, such as arts education teachers, designers, and arts council leaders. But you'll also hear from people who don't directly work in the arts but still consider the arts essential to their quality of life and credit the arts with helping them to become the people they are today. Here's one such story from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts who as a college student in Washington, DC discovered the rest of the world through the arts.
