Let's Celebrate Master Artists in Folk Arts & Jazz!

This morning we announced nine new NEA National Heritage Fellows and four new NEA Jazz Masters! The honored folk artists are Henry Arquette, Mauel "Cowboy" Donley, Kevin Doyle, The Holmes Brothers, Yvonne Walker Keshick, Carolyn Mazloomi, Vera Nakonechny, Rufus White, and the Singing & Praying Bands of Maryland and Delaware. The honored jazz artists are Carla Bley, George Coleman, Charles Lloyd, and Joe Segal. (Visit our News Room for the full announcement.)

You might notice that one of the Heritage Fellows looks a little familiar. That's because Kevin Doyle performed with 2013 Fellow Seamus Connolly at last year's Heritage Concert Celebration. Here's a clip of that performance.

None of the new Jazz Masters snuck into the January jazz celebration, but Charles Lloyd has had a long musical partnership with Jason Moran--Kennedy Center's New Artistic Director for Jazz--who performed with Bill Frisell at the 2014 concert.
