Washington, DC This week’s podcast features poet Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz, recent recipient of a 2011 NEA Literature Fellowship. Currently the ArtsEdge writer-in-residence at the University of Pennsylvania, Aptowicz has written five books of poetry (her most recent, Everything is Everything, released in 2010) and one book of nonfiction: Words in your Face: A Guided Tour through Twenty Years of the New York City Poetry Slam. That is certainly a subject she knows something about: at the age of 19, she founded the NYC-Urbana Poetry Slam series in 1998, which earned three National Poetry Slam Championships.
