Washington, DC This week?s podcast is a lively conversation with bassist Christian McBride, the new voice of the NEAs Jazz Moments. Although McBride?s own musical chops put him in the top tier of Jazz musicians, he often wanders outside that world. McBride has played R&B with Isaac Hayes and Chaka Khan, performed with Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown, collaborated with Sting, Carly Simon, Queen Latifah and opera legend Kathleen Battle. But McBride's roots are in jazz, and he has worked with some of jazz's legendary players, including Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Rollins, J.J. Johnson, and Chick Corea ( all Jazz Masters, by the way!) . In fact, when McBride was a hungry young kid in Philadelphia, it was a 2011 Jazz Master who pushed him into the limelight.
