Art Works in Washington, DC
NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman decided to steer the Art Works Tour to a more immediate community this week: his new backyard of Washington DC.
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCAH) hosted an Art Works roundtable discussion with the Chairman at Busboys and Poets, a popular DC gathering place that combines restaurant, bookstore, and cultural space. A venue with the entrepreneurial spirit common to the arts and commerce seemed a particularly appropriate location for a conversation about how art works in the nation's capital.
DCCAH Executive Director Gloria Nauden, Chairman Landesman, Busboys & Poets founder and owner Andy Shallal, and DC Office of Planning Director Harriet Tregoning joined a packed audience of DC arts leaders in a far-ranging discussion.
